Farrah Fawcett Exhibition

The Rockport Cultural Arts District is honored to champion an exclusive exhibition featuring the personal art creations of Farrah Fawcett in January 2027. The Rockport Cultural Arts District (RCAD) is working closely with long time friends of Farrah’s to bring this vision to a reality. RCAD has secured the approval from the Blanton Museum at UT Austin to exhibit 31 pieces of Farrah’s artwork that have been in the Museum’s basement since her death in 2009. Only two exhibits of 15 pieces have been displayed since 2009. The exhibition has also created an opportunity to place a bronze sculpture of Farrah in the downtown Rockport Cultural Arts District. Fawcett, a native of Corpus Christi, visited Rockport often and worked as a model marketing Rockport, Texas in the 1970s. Yet, many are not familiar with her artistic talent and art. Rockport is well known as being one of the “Top Ten Art Colonies in the U.S.” This exhibition and public art piece of Farrah will resonate with the many individuals and artists that are drawn to Rockport’s art scene. Her sculpture, created by David Deming, will join other public art sculptures by artists like Steve Russell, Jesus Moroles and Kent Ullberg, highlighting the uniqueness of our community. The exhibition titled “America’s Sweetheart” is scheduled the month of January 2027 at the Aransas County Community Center in Rockport’s new government complex. Just a block away, and visually seen, is the planned placement of Farrah’s sculpture, with the unveiling coinciding with the exhibition. One of 57 Cultural Districts in the State, RCAD was designated by the Texas Commission on the Arts in 2016 through a rigorous and competitive application process. In our ten years of operation, we have demonstrated expertise, commitment and capacity to professionally protect and display works of art.
